Facelift is the first album by American rock band Alice in Chains, released on August 21, 1990 on Columbia Records. The songs "We Die Young", "Man in the Box", "Sea of Sorrow" and "Bleed the Freak" were released as singles. The song "Man In The Box" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocals in 1992. Facelift became the first album of the grunge movement to go gold on September 11, 1991. The album peaked at number 42 on the Billboard 200 chart and reached platinum status after selling 2 million copies.
