Už při prvním poslechu jejich devátého studiového alba je jasné, že Animal Collective dospěli na zvláštní místo. Experimentální kapela založená v Baltimoru v roce 1999 vytvořila s "Merriweather Post Pavilion" univerzální album, které je stejně vhodné jako místo odpočinku na cestě, tak i k odreagování. Od svého vzniku působili Avey Tare (aka David Porter), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Josh Dibb (který tentokrát na palubě není) a Geologist (Brian Weitz) na různých kontinentech. Nyní dospěli do bodu, kdy jejich vnitřní logika dokonale zapadá na velké plátno. Panda Bear a Avey Tare, potěšeni možnostmi svého zvuku, zpívají s nově objevenou čistotou. Kdo potřebuje refrény, když si v kaleidoskopickém vytržení těchto skladeb může najít vlastní odpovědi? "Merriweather Post Pavilion" je ozvěnou všeho, co kapela doposud nahrála. Kdežto výkřiky a skřeky nyní signalizují poklidnou euforii, která definuje tuto širokoúhlou, obdivuhodnou desku.
