Billy Gibbons : The Big Bad Blues is a solo album by the ZZ Top frontman, released in September 2018. The album is a mixture of blues cover versions and originals and was recorded in just three days. Gibbons said of the album: "Blues is the foundation, the root of all rock and roll. I've always played the blues in one form or another and this album is a true reflection of that." The album was critically praised, with Rolling Stone magazine calling it "a blues masterclass from one of the living legends of the genre."

Lifelong love Three years after his solo debut "Perfectamundo", rock legend Billy F Gibbons returns from the studio to release his second solo album "The Big Bad Blues" in 2018. While the first album was clearly influenced by Caribbean sounds, the sophomore effort focuses on Gibbons' lifelong love of blues and rock 'n' roll. The ZZ Top singer and guitarist recorded eleven tracks for "The Big Bad Blues". In addition to several new Gibbons originals, the album includes some interesting cover versions, including classics like Bo Diddley's "Crackin' Up" and Muddy Waters' "Standing Around Crying" and "Rollin' and Tumblin'." The latter has already been released as the first single. And it shows: although Billy F Gibbons is a totally versatile artist, the blues is just in his blood. "The Big Bad Blues" is proof of that.
