Album "In These Silent Days", inspirované vyrovnáváním se s vlastním příběhem (při psaní letošního bestselleru New York Times "Broken Horses"), vzniklo v době, kdy byla Carlile v domácí karanténě se svými dlouholetými spolupracovníky a členy kapely Timem a Philem Hanserothovými. Deset písní pojednává o přijetí, víře, ztrátě a lásce, přičemž se obrací k ikonám, jako jsou David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Elton John a Joni Mitchellová - poslední dva jmenovaní se jakýmsi kosmickým souzněním hvězd stali jejími blízkými přáteli a zároveň největšími hrdiny a inspirací.

Album bylo opět nahráno v historickém nashvillském studiu RCA Studio A s producenty Davem Cobbem a Shooterem Jenningsem. "In These Silent Days" následuje po Carlileově albu "By The Way, I Forgive You" (z roku 2018), oceněném cenou GRAMMY, které časopis Rolling Stone popsal jako "...Adele-meets Joni Mitchell tour de force".

V následujících letech - kromě společných projektů s The Highwomen, Tanyou Tucker, Soundgarden, Aliciou Keys, Dolly Parton, Barrym Gibbem, Leslie Jordan, Brandy Clark a mnoha dalšími - získala za svou interpretační, skladatelskou a producentskou práci šest cen Grammy.
