Slaves and Masters is the thirteenth studio album by Deep Purple, released in 1990. Deep Purple has seen many personnel changes over the years. In 1990, the line-up consisted of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore (who returned to Purple in 1984 after leaving the band in November 1974 to form Rainbow following the release of Stormbringer), vocalist Joe Lynn Turner (former lead singer of Rainbow), keyboardist/organist Jon Lord, drummer Ian Paice and bassist Roger Glover. Longtime Purple fans were more than happy to have Blackmore back. "King Of Dreams", "The Cut Runs Deep" and "Fire In The Basement" are all classic Deep Purple songs. Blackmore's guitar solos and Lord's keyboard licks are reminiscent of the Deep Purple of old. The album sounds like a cross between Rainbow and Deep Purple.
