Epica's last album The Quantum Enigma was released in 2014. It is a concept album that tells the story of a girl who is captured by a mad scientist. The music is heavy and melodic and the lyrics are dark and poetic. The album is a must listen for all metal music fans.

Review "Much sooner than expected, Epica returns after a pregnant hiatus with 'The Quantum Enigma' - and yes, the brief hiatus has audibly benefited the Dutch. Epica may be playing their (at times) intricate symphonic metal again, but overall they come across as fresher and cleaner. Just listen to the opening "The Second Stone" or the following "The Essence Of Silence". However, the bombast is not omitted, but it is used more judiciously. This is also the case with the fantastic "Reverence - Living In The Heart", which can already be placed alongside classics like "Sancta Terra" or similar great works.....
