We Can't Dance is the eleventh studio album by English rock band Genesis , released on 14 October 1991. It was the band's first album since the departure of lead singer Phil Collins in 1996 and the first with new singer Ray Wilson. The album reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and number 4 on the US Billboard 200. It received a 3× platinum certification from the UK Phonographic Industry Association and a 4× platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. The album was recorded between January and August 1991 at The Farm recording studio in Surrey, England. It was produced by Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and David Hentschel. The album's music contains elements of pop, rock and soul. The album's lead single, "I Can't Dance", was a commercial success, reaching No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 1991, the album reached number one on the UK Singles Chart.
