When Heilung self-released "Ofnir" in 2015, the Danish band could hardly believe the breakthrough of their debut album. As there were voices that the album should be re-released, they decided to re-release it, this time in several collector's edition formats. The band's name captures the core of their sound. The listener is meant to return relaxed after a magical, sometimes tumultuous musical journey. The band thus travels far into the past, all the way back to the Northern European Iron Age and the Viking Age. Lyrically, it sticks to original texts from rune stones and ancient artifacts, and the band uses, among other things, poems dealing with historical events. Any attempt to connect the band to a modern political or religious context is futile, as Heilung seeks to connect its listeners to a time before the advent of Christianity and modern political ideologies.
