Inspired by the one-song super-deal "Crimson" (1996) by Swedish death metallers Edge Of Sanity, the highly successful Finnish melodic death metallers Insomnium also undertook such a feat - their last album reached number 18 in Germany and number two in their home country. "Winter's Gate" is the only 40-minute song based on the award-winning short story of the same name by singer and bassist Niilo Sevänen. Mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity, Bloodbath), musically you can expect dark melodies, deep growls and atmospheric passages with clean vocals, strong riffs and plenty of epicness. The short story is also included in a deluxe 2CD artbook in print (in Finnish, English and German), the artbook offers additional illustrations and also an audiobook that singer Niilo himself has loaded in English. The LP+CD comes with a 16-page LP-sized booklet, which includes a short story in three languages. The standard version contains only the English version of the short story.
