It was recorded at the Long Beach Arena in California as part of the band's World Slavery Tour. The album was critically and commercially successful and went platinum in the United States and Canada. The album's title track, "Live After Death", was released as a single and reached number four in the UK singles chart. The album was re-released in 1998 as a two-disc set and in 2005 as a DVD. In 2009 it was re-released as a three-disc set. The album Live After Death was well received by critics. David Fricke, in a contemporary review for Rolling Stone magazine, said the album "captures the punching power and theatricality of Iron Maiden in full flight", calling it a "metal milestone". Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic said in a retrospective review that the album "remains an incredibly consistent and inspiring live recording that captures the band at the height of their powers". The album was a commercial success. In the United States, it received a platinum record from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for a single-record run.

This round includes two spectacular live recordings, Live After Death and Rock in Rio! Live After Death was recorded during the legendary year-long World Slavery Tour at California's Long Beach Arena in March 1985. The tour, which began in Poland in August 1984, included a total of 187 concerts worldwide and made Iron Maiden one of the biggest bands in the world. The album Live After Death, which includes recordings from both the Long Beach Arena and London's Hammersmith Apollo, is still considered one of the best live albums of all time. Rock In Rio was recorded on January 19, 2001 during the last show of the Brand New World tour at the iconic festival of the same name. The show took place in front of 100,000 fans and was subsequently televised around the world. The Live Collection - Remastered follows the recent release of The Studio Collection - Remastered, which presented the entire catalogue of Maiden's 16 studio albums in a four-part series.
