Music On Vinyl 5. oktober 2010 Nederland

American jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius has recorded a number of successful albums with his band Weather Report and has also established himself as an acclaimed solo musician, releasing several solo albums. Pastorius has been hailed as one of the finest electric bassists of all time. He died in 1987 at the age of 35 after a violent incident in a bar in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. This album was Pastorius' solo debut and was originally released in 1976. The bass parts are excellent and are a good example of how skilled and talented Jaco was. His virtuoso solos continue to amaze the music community today. This debut album thrives on the versatility and variety of musical styles he chose for his songs here. Jaco Pastorius was only 24 years old at the time of the album's recording - a fact that speaks to the extraordinary talent of a musician who died under tragic circumstances. JACO PASTORIUS is widely recognized as an electric bass player. He died in 1987 at the age of 35 after a violent incident at a Fort Lauderdale business. This self-titled album was PASTORIUS' solo debut and was originally released in 1976. As living legend Pat Metheny writes in the liner notes to one of the reissues of Pastorius' albums, "Jaco Pastorius was perhaps the last jazz musician of the 20th century to have a major impact on the entire musical world. You hear Jaco's sound everywhere: from the latest TV commercial to bassists of all stripes copying his licks on recordings of all styles, from newscasts to famous rock and roll bands, from hip-hop samples to personal tribute recordings, you hear echoes of that unmistakable sound everywhere."

Album, kterým to všechno začalo - Jacovo první sólové album.
