Jefferson Airplane's actual album "Volunteers" was released in 1969, just two years after their psychedelic hippie rock monument "Surrealistic Pillow". As a politically charged album, "Volunteers" deals primarily with the injustice of the Vietnam War. The lyrics caused controversy, but technically the album surpassed them all. "Volunteers" was one of the first albums to be recorded on a state-of-the-art 16-track machine, as the picture on the back cover confirms. The album features Stephen Still and David Crosby as musical collaborators, making it one of the best albums in the Jefferson Airplane catalog.
Album valt binnen het genre Rock, Psychedelische rock en Klassieke rock. 180g Gatefold Remastered Vinyl.

Few bands from the hippie era embody the idealism and hedonism of the late 1960s as well as Jefferson Airplane. Two years after their groundbreaking psychedelic rock album "Surrealistic Pillow," the San Francisco musicians released something of a countercultural manifesto in 1969, "Volunteers." Deeply rooted in the belief that music could change the world, the songs on "Volunteers" dealt with the Vietnam War, politics, greed and environmental destruction, and called for revolution. The lyrics sparked controversy and the record company Jefferson Airplane RCA wanted to censor the album. However, RCA was not worried about the political content, but rather the boycott because of some obscene passages. The band eventually prevailed in court and the album could be released. Musically, "Volunteers", which was one of the first albums recorded on a 16-track machine, straddles the line between psychedelic acid and rustic country rock. The group around singer Grace Slick and well-known guest musicians Stephen Stills, David Crosby, Nicky Hopkins and Jerry Garcia are on top form. The 180g vinyl double LP with 45 rpm was remastered at half speed by Krieg Wunderlich and Rob LoVerd. Limited edition with serial number.
