New priorities After Khruangbin released a new EP "Texas Sun" with Leon Bridges in early 2020, fans of the soul, funk and psychedelic rock band from Texas can look forward to a new album this summer. "Mordechai" is the title of the trio's fourth LP. Their last album, "Hasta el cielo," wasn't released until 2019. For this album, Khruangbin recorded ten new songs at their own Farmhouse studio in Burton, Texas, this time featuring sonic influences from Pakistan, Korea and West Africa. In addition, and this is new for the mostly instrumental band, vocals are front and center on nearly every track on "Mordechai." Laura Lee, Mark Speer and Donald Ray "DJ" Johnson Jr. have already revealed what it sounds like on the single "Time (You And I)" with its distinct disco vibe. New priorities, the usual willingness to experiment, and a wealth of facets: Khruangbin will remain one of the most exciting bands in rock in 2020, and "Mordechai" is proof of that.
