Kim Wilde remains an icon of British pop music and has fans around the world who adore her. In 1981 she became an overnight sensation thanks to the worldwide success of her single "Kids In America", which brought a very British touch to Blondie's new wave of energy and glamour. In the 1980s Kim enjoyed many hit singles, first on RAK Records (with the help of her father Marty and brother Ricky) and later on MCA (when she began writing songs herself and touring with Michael Jackson and David Bowie). The song "Select" reached the UK Top 20 charts on its original release in 1982. It contains the hits "Cambodia" (UK #12, Australia #2), "View From A Bridge" (UK #16, Australia #2) and "Child Come Away" (UK #43).
