Massive Attack: 100th Window versie op CD in standaard editie. Deze specifieke uitgave werd uitgebracht in Europa bij uitgeverij Virgin op 25. juni 2021.
Many were eagerly awaiting MASSIVE ATTACK to finally complete their fourth studio album. It's called "100th Window", a reference to the book "Dictionary Of Now" by Charles Jennings and Lori Fener, which deals in the broadest sense with the transparency and controllability of the individual that can come about through computers. The album, which many are already hailing as a new masterpiece from this standard-setting band, opens up a little more with each listen - as do the other three successful albums. The excellent sales of the previous albums have shown that this is no barrier to commerciality. They contained just as few classic singles and easy-to-consume pop music, yet each sold well over 300,000 units, as in the case of the last album "Mezzanine". The new album was written almost entirely by 3D, who also produced it with longtime MASSIVE collaborator Neil Davidge. The album features two guest musicians - almost band member Horace Andy and Sinead O'Connor, who also lent her voice to the first single "Special Cases". This single is supported by a great and innovative video as always. Extensive live shows are also planned for 2003 - first in two cities in smaller venues, then at festivals and finally again on a larger scale in more cities. "100th Window" features nine songs with a total playing time of over an hour. The ninth track is followed by an untitled instrumental loop (no "hidden track"), which 3D describes as "a 13-minute long bass line that you can dine to / sleep at the wheel / or fuck your brains out to".
Album valt binnen het genre Elektronische muziek, Downtempo, Leftfield en Trip Hop.
