Kiwanuka is the third album by English singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka , released on 3 May 2019 on Polydor Records. The album was produced by Danger Mouse, Inflo and Kiwanuka himself. It contains the singles "Cold Little Heart", "Love & Hate", "Black Man in a White World" and "You Ain't the One". Kiwanuka has been described as a soul album. Kiwanuka himself has stated that the album is about "the human condition and how we all experience love and hate, happiness and sadness, good and bad". The album was recorded in London, Los Angeles and New York. Kiwanuka has received critical acclaim. On Metacritic, which gives mainstream critics' reviews a standard rating out of 100, the album received an average score of 85, which means "universal acclaim", based on 22 reviews. Tim Sendra of AllMusic gave the album five stars, writing that Kiwanuka is "a masterpiece of modern soul music that takes the best elements of the past and transforms them into something new and vital." He added: "Kiwanuka is a stunning record that is one of the world's best.
