These songs express how deeply significant events, momentary fads, and mystically tinged absurdities stand side by side on the internet, and ask how we can recognize and give weight to what is truly important. Push the Sky Away was produced by Nick Launay and recorded at La Fabrique, a recording studio housed in a 19th century mansion in the south of France, where the walls of the main studio are lined with a huge collection of classic vinyl. "I come into the studio with a handful of ideas, unformed and hooded, and the Bad Seeds turn them into miraculous things. Ask anyone who's seen them at work. Their pure, instinctive inventiveness is unlike any other band in the world. Nick Cave It's not always obvious on this album what instruments the band is playing: they may be traditional instruments, but other sounds are clearly generated by objects unrelated to musical instruments. What emerges is a collective musical language that is rich and complex.
