Although a prolific songwriter herself, Nina Simone deftly chose classics from the new rock era for her 1969 LP album. The album opens with a beautiful, introspective version of Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne," showing an obvious affection for social commentary in "Turn! Turn! Turn Around! (To Everything There Is a Season) by The Byrds, and offers a trio of Dylan classics: "I Shall Be Released," "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues," and a dramatic version of "The Times They Are A-Changin'." The album's title comes from the Bee Gees' song "To Love Somebody". Their cover version of this song became their second hit after "Ain't Got Now-I Got Life" in the UK.
