The album was re-released in 1992 with two bonus tracks. In 2006, the album was re-released with a bonus DVD. The album was very well received by fans and critics. Terrorizer magazine ranked it among the best death metal albums of all time. The album was also listed as one of the best albums of 1989 by Metal Forces magazine. The album has been cited as an influence by many death metal bands.
