Po více než pětileté pauze se PJ Harvey v roce 2016 vrací s novým albem. "The Hope Six Demolition Project" je název desky, která se poněkud vymyká jejím předchozím studiovým albům.

Místo aby britská alternativní zpěvačka a skladatelka nahrávala své písně ve studiu jako obvykle, rozhodla se tak činit na veřejných místech, jako tomu bylo u jejího předchůdce "Let England Shake" (2011). Místo kostela se tentokrát vydala mimo jiné do londýnského muzea umění Somerset House.

Návštěvníci výstavy měli možnost sledovat nahrávku kapely, museli však odevzdat své mobilní telefony, aby se nic z toho předem nezveřejnilo na internetu. Producenti mezitím seděli za speciálním jednosměrným sklem ve speciálně postaveném nahrávacím studiu.

Zbývající nahrávky pro "The Hope Six Demolition Project" probíhaly ve Washingtonu a na dalších neznámých místech v Afghánistánu a Kosovu.

Vzniklo tak celkem jedenáct písní, včetně "The Wheel", prvního singlu z nového alba - folkového indie rocku, v němž Harveyho doprovází tleskání rukou, lesní rohy a mužský sbor.

Mimochodem, "The Hope Six Demolition Project" je pojmenován podle plánu amerického ministerstva pro bydlení a rozvoj měst na revitalizaci projektů sociálního bydlení.

Kosmopolitní nové album: PJ Harvey proměnila velký svět ve svou hlasovou kabinu pro "The Hope Six Demolition Project". Výsledek je něco, na co můžeme být hrdí.

From London's Art Museum to Asia After a hiatus of more than five years, PJ Harvey returns in 2016 with a new album. "The Hope Six Demolition Project" is the title of the album, which is somewhat of a departure compared to her previous studio albums. Instead of recording her songs in the studio, the British alternative singer-songwriter decided to record her songs in public places, as she did with her previous album "Let England Shake" (2011). Instead of going to church this time, she went to London's Somerset House art museum, among other places. Visitors to the show were able to watch the band record, but had to hand over their mobile phones to ensure none of it was posted online beforehand. The producers, meanwhile, sat behind special one-way glass in a specially made recording studio. The remaining recording sessions for "The Hope Six Demolition Project" took place in Washington, D.C., and other undisclosed locations in Afghanistan and Kosovo. This resulted in eleven songs in total, including "The Wheel," the first single from the new album - a folky indie rock track that features Harvey accompanied by hand claps, horns and a male choir. Incidentally, "The Hope Six Demolition Project" is named after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's plan to revitalize social housing projects.
