"It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back" was like a hip hop apocalypse, with which Public Enemy released arguably the best hip hop album of all time. Importantly, it was an undeniably powerful statement, a manifesto for the rebirth of a mass movement for African-American liberation: black power for a new generation. Its musical impact was transformative; many other rap groups followed the example of The Bomb Squad, the great producers of PE. The amount of sound they put into the plastic here is incredible.
