The band's first album to be released worldwide on Nonesuch. "El Camino", their seventh album and their third collaboration with Danger Mouse. It was recorded at Nashville's own Easy Eye Sound System studio, which was newly built but almost entirely outfitted with antique equipment. And they succeeded in doing what most bands desperately seek: A recipe for perfect songs, for the screechiest eleven-song album imaginable, and a breathtaking balance between a quirky subculture sound and a broad hit rate. Produced by Danger Mouse and The Black Keys, the eleven-track album was recorded at singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound studio in the band's new home town of Nashville in the spring of 2011. El Camino follows the most successful two years of The Black Keys' career. In May 2010, they released their breakthrough album Brothers to great critical acclaim. It debuted at No. 2 in the U.S., won three Grammy Awards, an MTV Video Music Award and topped numerous charts, including iTunes, NPR and Rolling Stone. The Brothers album, which included the hits "Tighten Up" and "Howlin' for You," was certified gold in the U.S. and U.K. and platinum in Canada. Worldwide sales have now exceeded one million units and are still increasing. Commenting on the band's recent success, drummer Patrick Carney said: "We've come a long way to get to where we are. Being in your thirties and making music with your best friend is pretty cool. We've experienced everything from driving thousands of miles, to playing for nobody, to winning a Grammy." Auerbach goes on to describe the band dynamic: "We don't talk before we play. We don't practice before we record, we just go with the flow." The Black Keys - Akron, Ohio natives Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney - released their debut album, The Big Come Up, in 2002, followed by Thickfreakness (2003) and Rubber Factory (2004). In 2006, they signed to US label Nonesuch Records and released their fourth album, Magic Potion, followed by the Danger Mouse-produced Attack & Release in 2008.
