Songs of Innocence, released in September 2014, is the thirteenth studio album by Irish rock band U2. The album was announced at a press conference with Apple CEO Tim Cook on July 9, 2014, and was automatically given away to all iTunes customers on September 9, 2014 as part of a promotion for the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The album was produced by Danger Mouse, with additional producers Paul Epworth, Ryan Tedder, Declan Gaffney and Flood. The release of the album was met with mixed reactions. While some praised the band for releasing the album for free to all iTunes customers, others criticized the band for automatically including the album in their music library without their consent. The first single from the album, "The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)", was released on July 14, 2014. The second single from the album, "Every Breaking Wave", was released on November 11, 2014. The third single from the album, "Song for Someone", was released on May 4, 2015. The fourth single from the album, "Iris (Hold Me Close)", was released on September 11, 2015. The album's fifth and final single, "The Troubles", was released in December 2015.

Irish band U2 is finally back! On Tuesday, September 9th, the band unexpectedly announced the release of a new album, which will be released under the title Songs Of Innocence on October 13th. However, you can listen to it now... The band started recording the new album in June 2012 and finished it intermittently in March this year. The entire recording process took place in several locations, namely London, New York, Los Angeles and Dublin. The main producer during the shoot was the proven American musician and producer Danger Mouse, while Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic, the acclaimed British producer Paul Epworth, Declan Gaffney and the British producer Mark Ellis, who is better known in the music industry under the stage name Flood, also contributed their bit to the mill.The album, which (according to frontman Bono) the members consider to be the most personal they have ever made, is influenced by seventies rock and punk, early eighties electronica and soul, and its main themes are home, family and relationships. The basic version of the album contains a total of eleven songs (including a duet with singer Lykke Li), but a deluxe version will also be available, which will include four additional new recordings, plus a few songs from the album in their acoustic forms... Although Songs Of Innocence won't be physically released until October 13, fans can listen to it now, completely free of charge! On Tuesday, September 9, Apple unveiled its new products, but at the end there was a huge surprise in the form of a short performance by U2. Among other things, the band unveiled the album's pilot single, which is the track The Miracle (of Joey Ramone), and also announced that the album is available free of charge to U2.com subscribers and all iTunes Music Store account holders, which currently totals more than half a billion people...
