(Michael Poulsen) The history of Volbeat and its German fans is full of deep and loud rock'n'roll love. Now it's time to thank the "Rebels & Angels", as the four musicians call their fans. To this end, the band recorded this live album at the end of 2019 as part of the "Rewind, Replay, Rebound World Tour" in several German cities. Ever since the band stirred up an international music circus, Germany has been printed in bold on the tour schedule. At the start, the musicians will travel thousands of kilometers in a van, rolling from Copenhagen to Flensburg and Freiburg, from Ludwigsburg to Leipzig and from Düsseldorf to Dresden. Small clubs soon become big clubs and then the biggest halls in the country. Michael Poulsen and his team go from insider tip to major star. "Germany then became our second home," says the guitarist, singer and composer. "Our music caught on incredibly quickly and well with the public, and suddenly we had a huge fan base." The Danes will make their German debut on June 4, 2006 at the Rock Hard festival in Gelsenkirchen and will perform at Headbanger's Ballroom in Hamburg on September 1, 2006. "We've had a lot of fun and more than once a devilish hangover," Poulsen recalls. The rest, as they say, is history: international tours, chart-toppers, gigs with AC/DC and Metallica, promotion to the big leagues. If rock'n'roll were really dead, Volbeat would be damn successful zombies. After "Rewind, Replay, Rebound" shoots to the top of the charts again in summer 2019, the quartet will play arenas in Berlin, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Munich and Leipzig, and even twice in Hamburg and Cologne. They put on a big rock show with a huge stage, a massive light show and moving video screens. The days when a couple of Danish mates loaded guitars into a van are long gone: in 2019, the production will fill a whopping 17 trucks and employ an 85-strong team from 13 countries. On tour, Michael Poulsen, Jon Larsen, Rob Caggiano and Kaspar Boye Larsen fire up the crowd with songs from all albums - old favourites, classics and new hits. "With a great crowd, every song is fun," muses the frontman. "There's been an amazing atmosphere at all these shows." And you can hear it: Thousands of fans and four Danish-American rockers are there every night to celebrate their music. Poulsen promises, "Keep listening to Volbeat. Then we'll keep coming back, even when Jon is 100 years old." The deal. Until then, do it loud. For the love of rock 'n' roll.
