Anatoly Liadov

Anatoly Liadov

Russian Romantic Composer

Anatoly Konstantinovich Liadov (1855–1914) was a Russian composer, teacher, and conductor, known for his particular interest in Russian folk music and fairy tales. He was a contemporary of the more famous composers Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky and was associated with the nationalist group of composers known as "The Mighty Handful" or "The Five," although he was not an official member. Liadov's output includes orchestral works such as "The Enchanted Lake," "Baba-Yaga," and "Kikimora," which are tone poems that draw on Russian folklore and showcase his talent for orchestration and mood setting.
