Dave Lombardo is a Cuban-American drummer, widely recognized for his work with the influential thrash metal band Slayer. Born on February 16, 1965, Lombardo's aggressive playing style and exceptional double bass technique have earned him the title of one of the most significant heavy metal drummers of all time. He was a founding member of Slayer, contributing to the band's rise to prominence in the 1980s with albums such as "Reign in Blood" (1986), which is often cited as a landmark album in thrash metal. Although he left and rejoined Slayer several times throughout his career, Lombardo's impact on their sound and the genre at large is indisputable. Beyond Slayer, he has been involved in various other musical projects, including Fantômas, Grip Inc., and Testament.
