British post-metal project

Jesu is a British experimental band formed in 2003 by Justin Broadrick following the breakup of his previous band, Godflesh, which was one of the first bands to combine elements of extreme metal and industrial music. Jesu's sound diverges significantly from Godflesh, as it is largely based on shoegaze and slowcore elements, with a focus on atmosphere and texture over traditional song structures. The band's name is taken from the last song on the final Godflesh release, "Hymns". Jesu's self-titled debut album was released in 2004 to critical acclaim for its blend of heavy guitar textures and melodic soundscapes.
