The physiology of sound perception by the human ear suggests that for the same sensation of loudness at lowAt low frequencies, much higher power is required than is sufficient for medium and high frequencies. The lowest frequency is also proportional to the size of the loudspeaker diaphragm and the internal volume of the cabinet. It is physically impossible for speakers of smaller dimensions to transmit the lowest bass. The solution is to add an active subwoofer - a dedicated speaker to reproduce only the lowest bass frequencies in the reproduction chain.

Here again, acoustics and the physiology of sound perception by the human ear play a role. The ear perceives very precisely the direction from which higher frequency sounds come. The survival of our ancestors depended on hearing where the snake hissed from, where the leaves rustled under the beast. The high frequencies spread as a narrow beam, the middle frequencies become a cone, and the low bass frequencies spread spherically. This means that for low bass frequencies up to about 100 Hz we cannot determine where they are coming from.

If we place a conventional full-range (main) speaker in front of the listener and a subwoofer behind the listener, for example, the ear will perceive the space in front of the main speakers as the sound source when properly adjusted. This effect is used in multi-channel home theatre systems and can be equally advantageous in stereo listening when it is not technically possible to place large speakers in front of the listener. Modern receivers take this solution into account and are equipped with a special signalm output for subwoofer, where all bass line for the whole recording is summed in one audio channel. The active subwoofer solution is also advantageous in that the power is not so much loaded on the main amplifier and the active switch in the subwoofer compensates for the inherent frequency response of the sub-bass driver and the soundboard.

The cornerstone of the TANGO 94 active subwoofer is a 20 cm diameter woofer with an aluminium diaphragm for maximum speed and rigidity. In a well-damped and reinforced sound box, the speaker is installed with the radiation directly against the ground. The cabinet is mounted on adjustable spikes and the side of the cabinet is fitted with an amplifier with signal auto-detectionwith the possibility of adjusting the input sensitivity and splitting frequency, including the possibility of switching the phase.

Thenewly developed bassreflex with a curved profile and radiused excursion is highly resistant to clacking and takes the subwoofer to a new dimension compared to previous models. The sound will not disappoint both home cinema fans and fans of heavy rock music.

The finish consists of a durable plastic film with a faithful 3D imitation of the black ash wood grain.
