Ortofon Om 5 Super - New for 2019 , elliptical tip, and hollow separate pole pins /same as the new 2M series/

• 1. Using computer simulations, it was possible to define the natural point of the system with unprecedented accuracy to achieve optimal oscillation balance. The result: improved linearity, higher channel separation and reduced distortion.
• 2. Furthermore, a new technique was developed and applied: slot less than 1 mm and hollow separated pole pins /same as the new 2M series/, whosewhich significantly reduced the losses due to eddy currents caused by magnetic hysteresis.This sophisticated technology extends the frequency range and improves phase linearity. This is Ortofon's technology with a significant increase in quality and performance up to an impressive 5.5 mV.The transmission thus has a linear frequency response and does not suffer from reduced signal loss at higher frequencies.
• 3. The body of the OM 5 Super is made of Noryl (a mixture of plastic and glass), which provides high rigidity and resistance to resonance.

The OM 5E features an elliptical stylus that provides balanced playback without distortion. Elliptical diamonds are able to track the vibration of the grooves more accurately than spherical diamonds due to their shape. This results in better tracking and less distortion.

When developing the OM cartridges, the main goal was to provide the music lover with the opportunity to optimize sound reproduction without having to replace the entire cartridge. The OM 5 series is not only designed for replacement purposes after wear or damage, but allows you to improve your sound with a simple touch pen upgrade. Touch nibs for the OM 5 series are easily interchangeable and include: touch nibs 3E, 5E, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 78 and D 25 M.
