Pro-Ject X2 introduces a turntable with a luxury configuration

In 1991, Pro-Ject kicked off the Hi-Fi revolution with the launch of the Pro-Ject P1, a new low-cost high-end turntable at a time when the CD format dominated. Against all odds, it succeeded in reviving interest in analogue sound, although at this time, others were turning their backs on analogue. Success was built on just three critical philosophies:

• Simple but technically perfect design

• High-quality, high-value materials

• Fully handmade by skilled technicians in Europe

The new X2 is based on the same concept as the legendary P1, but is improved in every aspect thanks to modern materials and new manufacturing methods.

• The materials used for production are much higher quality, but also more expensive.

• The components used are much heavier, sturdier and more massive, resulting in higher performance and better vibration resistance.

The X2 has a chassis milled from a single piece of high density MDF, significantly reducing any unwanted resonances. The high weight of the X2 is very important as it contributes to the resulting more detailed and accurate reproduction. A sophisticated DC/AC generator circuit is integrated into the chassis which, combined with controlled speed control, ensures a constant power supply for smooth and stable motor rotation. It is more expensive, but the result is much better than a simple direct AC power supply to the motor. For an even better result, the motor is also separated from the main chassis by a new motor suspension system.

The very quiet X1 motor drives a heavy non-resonant acrylic plate through the sub-plate drive system. In conjunction with a top quality main bearing, this ensures perfectly smooth rotation of the platter. The result is an ideal platform on which to place your precious vinyl records, guaranteeing absolute reliability and top audiophile sound. For an even more perfect result, the motor is also separated from the main chassis by a sophisticated suspension system, so it is actually floating and in a perfectly horizontal position. This achieves maximum stability of operation, without transferring disturbing vibrations to the main chassis and the transmission arm.

Thanks to the super-stiff, sandwich construction of the arm made of tempered carbon and aluminium, the X2 aims much higher than its predecessors. This upgraded 9" wider diameter tube arm with internal damping, fitted with an upgraded bearing, is incredibly lightweight and very stiff at the same time. It is made as a one-piece with an integrated headshell, making it maximally resistant to unwanted resonances. At the same time, the TPE damping of the counterweight reduces the resonances of the arm by 10 to 50%. The design of the arm allows precise azimuth and vertical scan angle adjustment. The robust aluminium base of the arm ensures a perfect connection between the arm and the chassis.

The X2 was designed for discerning music lovers to meet their demands for high quality vinyl playback. It therefore comes with a highly regarded cartridge manufactured by the renowned Ortofon company. The Ortofon 2M Silver voice coil has a silver coil and a very precise and accurate sound with wonderful details.

The X2 has all the features and functions of a modern high-end turntable, necessary for maximum musical performance and a quality listening experience. Plus, at a very affordable price.

It is offered with a high-gloss black eight-layer lacquer finish, a luxurious matte black or white and a luxurious natural walnut veneer with satin wax.
