Lenco was founded in 1946 in Burgdorf, Switzerland, by husband and wife Fritz and Marie Laeng. Swiss Fritz Laeng, fascinated by sound technology, started an electrical engineering business in 1925 and his wife Marie became the driving force. The couple founded a small factory based on the production of gramophones. The famous name Lenco was Marie's idea (derived from the couple's surname). The key concepts were the reliability of the turntables and the excellent technical service. Thus began the reputation of the brand.
